Reap the benefits of SUN

Though this block is destined only to computer articles, i am writing this post as i feel the importance of alternative energy resources. In an age of snow ball pricing of oil a do or die situation has come which is demanding an alternative energy which is clean and abundant and we found the answer in a familiar resource, SUN.

It's unfortunate that we Indians are lagging in harvesting the sun. The world is marching towards the newest technology and we are yet again maid to follow the first and second world's because of our disgusting policy making. But it is a bit satisfying that in India we are atleast trying to do something.

Some detailed study and hard work will be making hell a lot of money for the investors. I consider this as a good option of investment and if things go properly i may end up investing in it also

OpenOffice

This is an easy alternative for all those people who find working with MS Office as drudgery. OpenOffice offers suite of applications which can handle all your needs of formatting and editing. The applications are user friendly and the perfrect way to start for ametures.

"Impress" application is the counterpart of MS powerpoint. This application is light weight and provides some good templates for presentation. Moreover we can add our own templates to make presentations exciting. As they say the best things in world are free,OpenOffice is also a freeware.(http://www.openoffice.org/)

P2P

P2P stands for Peer to Peer sharing, which brought a revolution in utilising the internet's bandwidth. It is estimated that one bit of every three bits on internet is used by p2p. This means the bandwidth consumed by a single p2p client equals the normal browsing of a humdred to thousand people around the world.
The software that popularised p2p is Bit Torrent. The server-client model is simplified and customised , with the implementation of BT protocol. But unfortunately most of the material that is shared on P2P is illegal and pirated. The advantage of BT protocol is even the peer computer can act as seed(who shares the content).

3G

3G has gained mass in our country with the advent of latest i-phone in our potential and untapped market.3G represents third generation of mobile phones.
Moving back to late 80's and till mid 90's people used 1G mobiles which were for basic communication. Then came 2G with the induction of Short Messaging Services (SMS) in our phones. 2G phones ruled the markets for quite a lot of time. With the invention of General Packet Radio Services(GPRS) an offspring has evolved i.e 2.5G.The main aim of this technology was to provide internet connectivity on the move. The speed starts from kbps to a few Mbps. As the business requirements have reached new heights in recent past, it has given birth to a new generation of mobile phone i.e the THIRD GENERATION. Using three we can get more satisfying services and speed of a hundred Mbps.
What this means to people is more luxury and sophistication, and large revenues for teleco's.

Global Postioning System(GPS)

Most of the people know about GPS. This has become our latest travel guide.Though it is not that prevalent in our country,we have two companies providing good services here-mapmyindia and satnav. The PDA costs us around 22k and maps of a city costs 2k.There are updates getting released every year which may cost upto 1k.

If u wonder how GPS works?,here is the working.when we switch on our PDA it starts running a digital wave form. the same wave form is sent by the satellites to our PDA. When this waveform is received our pda calculates the time lag between the two wave forms and gets its co-ordinates on earth. You having the map for that co-ordinates installed on your pda means exploring with second thoughts.

How to speed up VISTA systems?

Windows vista has come up with a lot of new features. One of them is the "FAST REBOOT".
This lets you increase the performance of your system with out burning a hole in ur pocket.

All you need to have is a Flash drive.Plug-in your Flash drive to pc and select the fast reboot option in programs menu. The os automatically adds your Flash Drive strength to ur RAM. Though it wont boost the performance for large i/o operations.
